The Rowallan wing was completed in October 2009 and has added a 52 bedroom extension onto Springhill Home. In the coming year the Georgian mansion is to be refurbished. When completed, the mix of modern facilities and grand exterior will be outstanding.
In partnership with the local high school, Grange Academy, we are currently developing our gardens and hope to have gardens which contain water features, more seating for residents, and fruit and vegetables growing in raised beds in the forthcoming year.
All of our 52 bedrooms are decorated to a high standard and have been fitted out with the following furniture: 22” flat screen television with free view capability; large chest of drawers and wardrobe, as well as a fully lockable bed side cabinet.
Our rooms also have the added benefit of being an average of 30% bigger than Care Commission standard. We encourage all of our residents to personalise their rooms, whether it be with pictures, ornaments or pieces of furniture, to make their surroundings as homely as they would like. All of our bedrooms have en-suite facilities with shower, wash basin and WC.
On three of the floors in our Rowallan wing we have specialist spa baths with lifting hoists so that safe entry and exit is ensured for all users.
A brightly coloured day room is situated on each floor where residents can welcome their visitors and interact with others, while enjoying the TV or DVDs in comfortable surroundings.
The Garden floor has a cinema room were a widescreen television is situated – residents regularly enjoy watching films on the widescreen television. A wide variety of other activities regularly take place in the cinema room including arts and crafts.
We also have a touch screen computer which has a number of interactive games for all to enjoy. SKYPE is available for residents wishing to talk their families whether they are in Aberdeen or Australia.
