Summer was an ever eventful time for the residents of Springhill with entertainment including garden parties, outings to transport museum and our annual trip to the Ayr flower show.

This was the much enjoyed and was attended by a number of residents and staff. This was made all the more enjoyable due to the hoard of trophies and prizes that we won!

We are happy to say that we have been in our new ‘Rowallan wing’ for over a year now and many changes and events have taken place in this time. We are now looking forward to commencing the refurbishment on the Georgian Building in the Summer of this year.

Since moving into our new extension our social calendar has continued to expand with many activities, old and new, taking place.  A number of residents visited the Ayr flower show in August, not only this, a number of prizes were won, so well done to all that took part!

Our Christmas clothes show also took place again this year, with residents being able to purchase some new clothing for Christmas events. Many pantomime visits took place in December with Dick Wittington being shown.

January also saw a Burns Lunch, with poems, songs and a toast to the haggis taking place! As we look to forthcoming year we begin to develop our gardens, with the help of Grange Academy and the residents’ garden committee. We hope to have the official opening of the newly improved gardens in June this year.

Now that we have completed the Rowallan wing, our fabulous new extension at Springhill Home, the next step is to refurbish the Georgian part of the building.

We plan to modernise this part of the building whilst preserving all the lovely period features such as pillars and cornicing.

Once completed, the home will then offer the ultimate combination of modern facilities and historic grandeur.

On Friday 30th November 2009, local MP Des Browne formally opened the Rowallan wing, our new extension at Springhill Home.

He is pictured with Janet Kay, our Matron, cutting a cake to mark the occasion.
