Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What time is visiting?
Visitors are welcome at any time. If you’re visiting locally, we ask that if possible you try to avoid meal times as they are usually busy times.
However, if you need to travel a long distance to get to the home and would like to join your relative or friend for a meal in the home, please let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to organise this for you.
Meal times are as follows: Breakfast 8.00 – 9.30am, Lunch 12.30 – 1.30pm, Dinner 5.00-6.00pm.
Is there a limit to the number of visitors at any one time ?
No, not unless the person you are visiting requests any restriction on numbers.
Can I take a resident out of the home?
Yes, as long as you let the nurse in charge know you are going to take them out and approximately when we can expect you back.
Can residents keep their own doctor?
Yes, we encourage residents to keep their own GP wherever possible. However most doctors will not travel out with their practice’s catchment area therefore residents from further afield may need to register with a local practice.
The decision on which local practice to join would be made by the resident or with the help of their relatives and we are happy to help with this process.
Do you wash residents’ clothes?
Yes, laundry is done on the premises and all clothes will be named to try to prevent items from going astray. We ask that clothing is all machine washable and able to be tumble dried.
Are there any organised activities in the home?
We have an activities coordinator in five days a week and she organises craft activities, quizzes, reminiscing, and beauty therapy as well as any other activity requested by individual residents.
We also organise outings to the theatre, parks and trips for afternoon coffee when the weather allows it.
What personal items can be brought in apart from clothes?
Small items of furniture can be brought in as well as pictures or photographs if desired.
